  42. dMAIL is an advanced mailing list system for all MS-DOS

  100. INSTALLING DMAIL:
  101. dMAIL is supplied as an archive file called "DMAIL6.ZIP". It
  102. contains all the files you need. Follow these steps to get a
  103. functioning system onto your hard drive:
  104.  
  105. 1 - At the "C:>" prompt create a new directory on your hard
  106.     drive:
  107.                    MD DMAIL          <press enter>
  108.  
  109. 2 - Using an archive un-packing utility, unpack the contents of
  110.     DMAIL6.ZIP into the new directory.
  111.  
  112. 3 - Check for a file called "CONFIG.SYS" in the root directory of
  113.     the startup drive. If it is there it should contain the
  114.     following statements with the minimum values shown:
  115.  
  116.                    FILES = 20
  117.                    BUFFERS = 8
  118.  
  119. You can see the contents of the file just by typing:
  120.  
  121.                    TYPE CONFIG.SYS       <press enter>
  122.  
  123. If these statements are absent you can use any text editor to
  124. insert them. If the file does not exist, you can easily create
  125. one with the following steps:
  126.  
  127. 1 - Go to the root directory:
  128.  
  129.                    CD\                   <press enter>
  130.  
  131. 2 - Create a file called CONFIG.SYS and put the two lines in it:
  132.  
  133.                    COPY CON CONFIG.SYS   <press enter>
  134.                    FILES = 20            <press enter>
  135.                    BUFFERS = 8           <press enter>

  137. 3 - Close the file:
  138.
